Like most people in Verona, Jason Villani watches a lot of sports. Like more than a few, he watches with the eye of someone who used to play school sports, in his case, baseball and football at Verona High School, where he graduated with the class of 1988. He also coached the Verona Eagles for five years. But he watches the collisions, tackles, trips and falls with the eye of someone who knows exactly what those actions are doing to every inch of the athlete’s spine.
Villani is a doctor of chiropractic and, for the last nine years, the owner of the Villani Chiropractic Center on Pompton Avenue. He has treated Verona athletes over the years and hopes for the day when Verona school sports will have a team chiropractor just like many pro teams do. In the meantime, he grows his practice one patient at a time, by explaining how chiropractic works and the benefits of chiropractic care.
“A body that is riddled with misalignments cannot function properly,” he says. “Chiropractic helps the whole body, and it can help children, teens and adults.”
To get that message out to more people, Villani offers what few health care professionals do: A free initial consultation. “I want people to be able to come in and get an idea of the benefits of chiropractic care,” says Villani, who works with all insurance carriers. “A conversation should always be free.”
