Ricardo C. Gervacio, a man of unwavering loyalty as a husband, boundless love as a father, and profound humility in his religious devotion, peacefully passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2024, in Livingston at the age of 95.

Born into modest circumstances on June 13, 1928, in Laoag City, Philippines, Mr. Gervacio exemplified resilience and dedication throughout his remarkable life. He dutifully served his country for 33 years in the Philippine Air Force, culminating his distinguished career as a colonel in 1984. Following his military service, he continued to contribute to the betterment of his nation as the communications director at the Philippine Department of Finance in Manila for a decade. He earned his Bachelor’s degree from the esteemed University of Manila.

In 1998, Mr. Gervacio embarked on a new chapter in his life, relocating to the United States. Initially residing in Los Angeles, California, he later made his home in New Jersey in June of 2006.

An integral member of the rosary group at Our Lady of the Lake church, Mr. Gervacio’s faith was the cornerstone of his existence. Despite the passing years, he remained fiercely independent, his diligent work ethic a testament to his enduring strength. Ever generous with his time and resources, he extended a helping hand to both family and acquaintances alike, embodying the true spirit of compassion and selflessness.

Among his many passions, Mr. Gervacio found immense joy in exploring the world with his beloved daughters, cherishing every moment spent in their company until his final days. Though he may have departed from this world, his legacy of love, kindness, and perseverance will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He was predeceased by his wife, Adelaida Gervacio, his brothers, Rufino Gervacio, Mel Gervacio and Ricarte Gervacio and his son-in-law, Dennis Capio. He is survived by his daughters, Maria Gervacio, Luvimin Capio, Maria Jackson and her husband Scott, and his sisters, Amparo Haber and Eufemia Facunla.

Visiting will be in the Prout Funeral Home, 370 Bloomfield Avenue, Verona on Friday morning, March 8 from 8:00 to 9:30 a.m., with a funeral mass to follow at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Lake Church, 28 Lakeside Avenue in Verona.

In lieu of flowers, donations in the form of Church Mass Cards would be appreciated.
