It has happened again. The Verona Police Department is reporting that someone entered a home in the Afterglow neighborhood and unsuccessfully tried to enter a second while burglarizing a car.

According to the police, an unknown person entered the first residence and took a wallet located in the kitchen while the homeowners were asleep upstairs. The entry occurred between 12:30 and 2 a.m. The person then burglarized a car in another driveway and tried to get into a second residence through a first-floor door.

The Afterglow neighborhood is the southeast corner of Verona between Mount Prospect Avenue and the ridge that overlooks Montclair.

The VPD is now working to identify the suspect and asking that anyone with video footage of suspicious individuals on foot during the early hours of this morning contact the department at 973-239-5000.
