On Thursday, June 22, the Verona High School Class of 2023 gathered in the gym to share hugs and memories with classmates, many of whom had been friends since kindergarten. Then they walked down Sampson Drive to Sellitto Field to begin their graduation ceremony.
The class valedictorian was Nadine Sharabi and the salutatorian was Nicholas Cañal. Olivia Egan, the senior class president, addressed the prospective graduates and their families and friends, and was also the featured soloist on “The Road Home,” which was performed by the VHS Choir. The class heard from featured speaker Linda Barone, as well as Diane DiGiuseppe, the superintendent of schools.
And then it was on to the serious business of handing out diplomas, turning tassels and tossing caps, many of which had been decorated to reflect where this year’s grads will be going next. Photographer Kathleen Seubert was there, and she captured these images:
