Table to Table has recognized the students at F.N. Brown Elementary School with the 2022 Bernard and Geraldine Segal Foundation Award for Student Philanthropy in support of Table to Table’s Bag a Lunch, Help a Bunch initiative, which invites participants to donate what they would spend on lunch for a day, week, month or more to help Table to Table feed those who need it most.

“The spirit of generosity, compassion, kindness are definitely alive among F.N. Brown School’s students as they raised enough funds to provide 31,530 meals to our hungry neighbors,” said Denise Andersen, executive director of Table to Table, a food rescue organization. “This student community leadership is impressive, and we’re thrilled to recognize their tremendous efforts with the 2022 Bernard and Geraldine Segal Foundation Award for Student Philanthropy.”

The Bernard and Geraldine Segal Foundation established a challenge grant of $30,000 for participating schools in northern New Jersey and it doubled the funds raised by those schools. F.N. Brown was the top fundraiser.

“Our students, staff, and administration take food insecurity very seriously, so we put all of our effort behind Table to Table’s Bag a Lunch, Help a Bunch campaign,” says Anthony Chierici, a third-grade teacher at F.N. Brown. “We are so honored to be acknowledged for our commitment.”

Added Dr. Anthony Lanzo, F.N. Brown’s principal, “We are very proud to be part of this initiative, as we know it has a positive impact on others in need.”
