Dr. Frank Mauriello, director of special services for Verona Public Schools, has been named as the 2022 New Jersey Special Education Administrator of the Year by the New Jersey Association of School Administrators (NJASA) and the New Jersey Association of Pupil Services Administrators (NJAPSA). Dr. Mauriello was honored on Wednesday at the NJASA/NJAPSA Spring Leadership Conference.
In the past year, Dr. Mauriello organized a mental health wellness festival with Cedar Grove, and invited Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care to do a series of presentations for area parents on supporting children’s mental health.
Dr. Mauriello joined Verona in September 2015 from Ridgewood Public Schools, where he was a special education teacher at George Washington Middle School. He was also Ridgewood’s school social worker.
Dr. Mauriello earned a bachelor’s degree in special education from William Paterson University, a master’s in administration and supervision from the College of Saint Elizabeth, a master’s in social work from Kean University, and a master’s in education and learning from Nova Southeastern University. He earned his doctor of education degree from St. Peter’s University in 2021.
