The Essex County psychiatric hospital known as Overbrook was demolished several years ago. The Hilltop at Cedar Grove townhouse community was built on its grounds.

On Tuesday, October 5, the Verona Historical Society will feature a presentation fit for the season—a tour and the hauntings of Overbrook, presented by author Kevin Kowalick and Robert L. Williams. While the Overbrook facility is now long gone, walk through its halls and its cavernous tunnels and hear the stories about the place and the salvage of pieces of its storied past.

The meeting will take place at 7:30 p.m. in the Firemen’s room of the Verona Community Center on Bloomfield Avenue.

This will be the Verona Historical Society’s first meeting since the pandemic. The November meeting will be a tribute to Louise Stewart and will feature her slide presentation on Old Verona.
