Vaccination against COVID-19 isn’t mandatory for Verona public school students, but the district sent out an email this afternoon about where families can get students the Pfizer vaccine, which has been approved for use in students as young as 12.

The three-page list includes options at Essex County’s vaccination sites (the former Kmart in West Orange and Essex County College in Newark), as well as medical offices, drug stores, hospitals and even the ShopRite in Nutley. You can access the list, which includes phone numbers and links to scheduling tools, here.

According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), children can become infected with the virus that causes COVID-19, get sick from it and spread COVID-19 to others.

“Widespread vaccination is a critical tool to help stop the pandemic,” the school district says in its email. “People who are fully vaccinated can resume activities that they participated in prior to the pandemic.”
