Two feet of snow have had an impact: All of Verona’s public schools will be closed on Tuesday, all athletics and extracurricular activities are cancelled. Superintendent Dr. Rui Dionisio made the announcement by email this afternoon.

Separately, Dr. Dionisio also announced three new cases of COVID-19 in the schools. Two cases are at H.B. Whitehorne Middle School and one is at Verona High School. He said that the district had consulted with the Montclair Board of Health and has decided that, despite the cases a school closure is not warranted now. There has been an uptick in COVID cases in the schools since Verona resumed its hybrid learning on January 15 after two weeks of fully remote instruction after the winter break.
