Township Manager Matthew Cavallo said that, as of Saturday evening, March 28, there are now nine residents of Verona who have tested positive for the novel coronavirus COVID-19.

“These numbers do not surprise us and we expect these numbers to rise due to the increased number of symptomatic patients being tested,” Cavallo said. “Please continue social distancing yourselves and staying home. Together we will get through this.”

According to the New Jersey Department of Health, there are now 1,086 people in Essex County who have tested positive for COVID-19. That is the second-highest total for any New Jersey county. Only Bergen County has more, at 1,838 positive results. There are 11,124 positive results in the entire state and 140 New Jerseyans have died of COVID-19.
