Mr. Arthur M. Walter of West Caldwell, 89, died on January 9, 2020 in Livingston. Visiting in the Prout Funeral Home, 370 Bloomfield Avenue, Verona will be on Sunday, January 12 from 2 to 5 p.m. Services will be held in the Prout Funeral Home on Monday, January 13 at 11 a.m.

Born in Montclair, Mr. Walter grew up in Verona and lived in Glen Ridge before moving to West Caldwell in 1974.

He served with the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953.

Mr. Walter was an electrical engineer at ITT in Nutley for 20 years and retired in 1972. From 1972 to present he was self-employed as a piano tuner and repairman for many families in the West Essex area. He was also a member of the Piano Technicians’ Guild.

He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Janet (nee Bush) Walter and his son-in-law, Stacey Foster.

Mr. Walter is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Angel (nee Tinnirello) Walter; children, Lynn Garbers (and her husband, Ralph), Ruth Foster, Janet Stuck (and her husband, Jay), Arthur M. Walter, Jr. (and his wife, Lisa), Daniel Walter (and his wife, Heather) and Cheryl Costa (and her husband, Luis); grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 would be appreciated.
