Verona’s award-winning Marching Maroon and White is proud to host the Third Annual NJSMA North Jersey Regional Marching Band Festival on Saturday, October 26 at 5:30 p.m. at Verona High School’s Thomas J. Sellitto Athletic Field. The festival will be co-hosted by the Verona Music Parents Association and the Marching Band Division of the New Jersey School Music Association (NJSMA).
This year’s competition will feature multiple marching bands from the Northern New Jersey area, including the Verona Marching Maroon and White whose show is entitled “Rings” and features the music of the Olympics, Lord of the Rings, Wagner’s Ring Cycle, & Beyonce’s Single Ladies. Verona’s Drum Major this year is senior Emily Osborne along with Assistant Drum Majors Anna Konrad-Parisi and Sawyer Conlon.
Marching bands competing at the festival will be judged in the following categories by a nationally
acclaimed panel:
- Music Ensemble – Darryl Bott, Director of Bands, Rutgers University
- Music Performance – Chris Bernatos, Composer, Clinician, and Band Director
- Music Effect – Marty Griffin, Renowned DCI Judge
- Visual Effect – Mickey Kelly, WGI Hall of Fame
- Visual Performance – Sal Adomo, WGI Hall of Fame
Band festival tickets are $10 and gates will open and food trucks will begin serving at 5:00 p.m. The
event begins at 5:30, with the Verona Marching Maroon and White performing at approximately 7:30
p.m.
The Verona High School Thomas J. Sellitto Athletic Field, also known as the upper field, is accessible via
Fairview Avenue or Grove Street in Verona. Handicapped parking is available in the lot next to the
tennis courts on Sampson Drive. The Verona Music Parents Association, NJSMA and our local business
