QUESTION 1: If you are elected, what specifically will you do to provide tax relief for constituents in LD26?

Under the previous administration, New Jersey exacerbated income inequality by repealing the New Jersey Estate Tax and increasing the $675,000 exemption to $2 million, reducing the sales tax and failing to pass the two cent tax on earned income in a given reporting year over $1 million, which has passed the Legislature multiple times before. Without generating sustainable revenue through tax fairness policies, working class families like mine get soaked anytime there are increases or shortfalls. I don’t know about everyone else, but personally, I’m sick of my property taxes. By working together with allies in the Assembly to accelerate our transition into the renewable energy movement, which will create tens of thousands of jobs and grow the tax base; by inviting opportunities to secure supply chain and manufacturing work in these industries; by passing tax fairness policies so income inequality is reduced and working class families aren’t left with the bill for tax cuts to the deceased and to people storing funds in offshore accounts rather than reinvesting them in our economy; and by revisiting policies like opening a state bank, looking at smart ways to legalize marijuana and explore fair pathways to sustainable revenue, we can avoid squeezing working families while securing needed funds to reinvest in our schools, infrastructure, energy future and communities.
