Our Lady of Lake will hold its 10th annual Oktoberfest on Saturday, September 28, from 5:30 to 11 p.m. It will be preceded by the family-friendly Kinderfest on Friday, September 27, starting at 4 p.m.

Back to rock the Oktoberfest stage once again is the popular Jersey Shore headline cover band The NERDS. Also back by popular demand is the Oktoberfest Tricky Tray, with a twist: OLL has set up a wish list on Amazon so that people can easily and identify items to be donated to Tricky Tray. To commemorate Oktoberfest, OLL has partnered with Tracey Hill at Academy Apparel to create an OLL Oktoberfest Swag Store, complete with T-shirts, hats and sweatshirts.

Kinderfest, a family-friendly mini-carnival, allows the whole family to enjoy some fun together with inflatable slides, games, prizes, face painting, a dunk tank and more, including a peak at the famous Oktoberfest Tricky Tray table. Admission to the Kinderfest tent is free, and tickets to individual attractions are available for purchase inside.

Our Lady of the Lake is dedicating this year’s Oktoberfest to one of its very special friends, Margaret Moriarty Gardner, who lost a long battle with cancer on April 14, 2019. Gardner had a deep love for the Our Lady of the Lake parish and ran many programs as the pastoral associate at Our Lady of the Lake Church, including the job of Oktoberfest ticket sales coordinator for six years. “Her attention to detail helped her with this critical role of managing 1,600-plus tickets year over year,” says Brenda Herman, one of the organizers of this year’s event. “Her kindness, irrepressible spirit and willingness to serve our parish will be remembered for years to come via this event and so many other Parish ministries.”

“So in memory of Margaret, enjoy this 10th Anniversary Oktoberfest and enjoy all the time you can with family, friends and neighbors,” Herman adds. “Perhaps we can continue her legacy by also serving our neighbors and friends in the OLL community a little more every day. All are always welcome.”
