The week of September 10 saw another big win for VHS football, a thriller for girls soccer and another strong outing for cross country. MyVeronNJ also went inside the training that produces the Marching Maroon and White.

Verona High School has an award-winning marching band and color guard. Our newest high school reporter intern, Kelly Esposito, took readers inside Band Camp to explain how the music, marching and flag displays come together. Take a read.

It’s racing season in Branch Brook Park,  and Verona’s boys and girls cross country teams are showing themselves to be leaders of the pack. Junior Jenika Ying was first in her race in both meets, while David Navarro led the results as several VHS boys placed in the top ten. See the results, and learn about the freshman who is coming on strong for the varsity team.

Frank and Nick Riggio combined for three touchdowns as Verona defeated Boonton on Friday night. The win was the second for VHS’ new head coach. See more game photos and highlights here.

What else happened in the week of September 10? To help you deal with school-night suppers, we re-launched our slow-cooker recipe series, girls soccer’s OT win capped a strong week, the Recreation Department’s new meditation class had a change of schedule and Pack 32 is looking for a few good Cub Scouts.
