The Verona High School girls soccer team steamrolled the Cedar Grove Panthers on Tuesday, piling up a 4-0 win at home. On Wednesday it was a different story, with Newark Academy edging ahead of Verona for a 2-1 win.

Scoring in the Cedar Grove game was spread evenly across the Lady Hillbillies, with Lara Tole, Emma Zalewski, Karen Andre and Cayla Okafor each taking one to the net. Colleen Whelan was in goal for Verona and was credited with three saves.

Lara Tole had the lone Verona goal in the Newark Academy game scoring on a penalty kick. Okafor had a strong defensive game and Emma Zalewski had some great drives to the goal and passes that would have been assists if Verona scored.

Verona girls soccer now has a 3-1 record on the season. The Hillbillies will host Glen Ridge on Friday at 4 p.m.
