The Verona Board of Education is meeting on Tuesday, April 24, and the meeting will feature the presentation of the budget for the 2018-2019 school year. The budget requires approval only from the BOE. That is because then-governor Chris Christie changed the process for school budgets in 2012, exempting them from a public vote unless they exceeded his 2% cap on increases. To understand what Verona has spent in the past, see the full budget for 2017-2018 here.
The BOE’s agenda also includes two retirements: Coreen Onnembo-Dilea, a social studies teacher at H.B. Whitehorne, and Anna Finocchiaro, an administrative assistant at HBW. The board will be accepting two grants from the Verona Foundation for Educational Excellence, for F.N. Brown’s Corisa Walker and Jason Atkins at Verona High School.

The BOE meets at 7 p.m. in the Learning Commons at VHS.
