Ida RuggieroIda Ruggiero, 95, of Verona, N.J., passed away on November 20, 2017. Services will begin on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. at Shook’s Cedar Grove Funeral Home, 486 Pompton Ave., Cedar Grove, N.J. Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Church, Cedar Grove with interment at Mt. Hebron Cemetery, Upper Montclair, N.J. Visitation will be on Fri., November 24, 2017 from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memories and condolences may be shared at shookscedargrove.com.

Born in Itri, Prov. di Avellino, Italy to Pasquale and Assunta Ruggieri, Ida immigrated to the U.S. in 1946 after her beloved husband returned to Italy after World War II to marry her. They resided in Montclair, N.J. before settling in Verona in 1948. Ida loved to sew, cook and was an avid Notre Dame and N.Y. Giants fan. As a homemaker, she was devoted to the care of her family.

Predeceased by her parents and 9 of her siblings, Ida is survived by her beloved husband of 71 years, Joseph P. Ruggiero; loving children, Neil Ruggiero (Cheryl), Susan Burns (Paul), and Joseph Ruggiero (Lorraine); dear grandchildren, Jennifer, Christopher (Natasha), Patrick, Kristina (Stephen), and Jaclyn; treasured great-grandson, Lochlan, and another on the way; and loving sister, Cesira Maggiacomo; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Ida’s memory may be made to the Verona Rescue Squad, 12 Church St., Verona, N.J. 07044.
