BreastCancerRibbonThe Minette’s Angel Foundation dedicates itself to improving the lives of Verona’s cancer patients and their families. But to do that, it needs the community’s support. You can help it carry on by attending its fifth annual Ladies Tea on Sunday, May 22, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Montclair Golf Club.

The guest speaker at this year’s event is Dr. Sarah S. Schaefer, a breast surgeon at Saint Barnabas Medical Center. A graduate of Union College and New York University of Medicine, Dr. Schaefer has been recognized by the American Cancer Society for her dedication to the education of women on breast diseases and treatment. An advocate of holistic treatment, she believes that psychological and spiritual factors are critical to her patients’ physical recovery and well-being.

Tickets to the Ladies Tea are $60, $25 of which is tax deductible. Please RSVP to [email protected] or use the Minette’s Angels website to get a ticket or make a donation.

The Minette’s Angels Foundation, a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit, was founded in 2004 to honor a Verona resident and nurse who passed away from breast cancer. The foundation’s mission is to keep the spirit of Minette Grosso McKenna alive by supporting breast cancer patients and survivors. It assists women in treatment, supports research and promotes breast health awareness. It also offers scholarships to Verona students entering the medical field, with a priority on nursing majors, and provides a scholarship to Seton Hall University for a second-year nursing student.
