Minette’s Angels, Verona’s home-grown breast cancer charity, is sending a big thanks to several groups that raised money for it this fall.
The students at Our Lady of the Lake school held a “dress-down” day and donated $1 per student to the foundation, raising $278. The Verona High School girls tennis team’s annual “serv-a-thon” served up $300.
The Breast Cancer Showcase staged by the VHS cheerleaders, Verona Eagles cheerleaders, William Paterson cheerleaders and VHS alumni cheerleaders raised $1,700.
Minette’s Angels was founded as the Minette Grosso McKenna Angel Foundation in 2004, one year after Verona resident and nurse Minette Grosso McKenna passed away from breast cancer. Minette’s Angels supports breast cancer patients and survivors through a variety of activities and offers scholarships to both Verona students entering the medical field and to Seton Hall University for a second-year nursing student.
