Every year since 2009, the Verona Environmental Commission has celebrated Walk to School Day with a poster contest and exhibit at each school.

The 2015 entries are due on Walk to School Day, Wednesday, October 7. Drop your poster in your school’s collection box. The contest is open to all Verona public school students in grades K to 12.

This year’s theme is “Sustainable Verona”. Posters should be letter size and include student’s name and grade on the back. All posters will be displayed at participating schools. Winners will receive $50 and an award certificate from Verona’s mayor.

Living sustainably is about living within the means of our environment and ensuring that our lifestyle doesn’t harm others. Walking or biking to school, turning off cars while parked, buying locally, planting native trees, recycling and using reusable water bottles are just a few ways to make Verona more sustainable.

Sponsored by the Verona Environmental Commission. For more information please visit www.veronaec.org.
