Verona resident Terry McHugh has let us know that the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Michael L. Delahunty Division 9 will celebrate its 115th anniversary with a dinner and dance on Saturday, March 7, at the Mayfair Farms in West Orange. This year’s guests of honor are Thomas McGurk, Jr. and Barbara P. Hughes, both of Montclair, and John Finnegan of Caldwell.
The annual event will begin with a cocktail hour, including open bar, hot and cold appetizers, a martini bar and a Silent Auction. Dinner and dancing will follow at 7:30 p.m. with Irish and American music provided by Verona’s Eamonn Ryan Showband.

The Ancient Order of Hibernians (AOH) is a national, Catholic fraternal organization founded in New York City in 1836. Thomas McGurk, Jr. was born and raised in Montclair. A graduate of Seton Hall University, he has had a career of more than 20 years in the mortgage industry and is a licensed mortgage originator. He works as a senior loan officer for Mortgage Master Inc. in their Cranford and Hoboken offices, and also owned and operated McGurk’s Pub in West Orange.
Also a native of Montclair, Barbara P. Hughes attended Immaculate Conception grammar and high schools. A licensed realtor since 1997, she has worked at RE/MAX Village Square Realtors in Upper Montclair since 2004. In 2009 she had her head shaved for the annual St. Baldrick’s children’s cancer research fundraiser at the Friendly Sons of the Shillelagh.
John Finnegan is the former head football coach athletic director at Immaculate Conception. The Caldwell resident was hired by Seton Hall Prep in 2003 to teach U.S. history and serve as head football coach. He has been named Coach of the Year in Track by The Star Ledger, Essex County Football Coach of the Year, and Essex County Coach of Decade Star Ledger (’90s). He has also been inducted to Immaculate Hall of Fame and Essex County Football Coaches Hall of Fame.
