Munning4Mr. Nicholas A. Munning, 91, died on February 23, 2015 in Glen Ridge. A funeral mass will be offered in Our Lady of the Lake Church, Verona on Thursday, February 26 at 10 a.m. Visiting in the Prout Funeral Home, 370 Bloomfield Avenue, Verona on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m.

Born in Matawan, N.J., Mr. Munning lived in Verona for 20 years and Caldwell for 30 years prior to returning to Verona last year.

He was a bombardier on B-17s during World War II, flying 35 missions over Germany. Mr. Munning graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University and worked as a glazier for Local 34.

Mr. Munning was a communicant of Our Lady of the Lake Church, participating in many of its ministries and was a long time member and former Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, Fr. James J. Kelly Council 3632.

Mr. Munning was the husband of Jean Munning, the father of Nicholas Munning, III, Gregory Munning, Michael Munning, Thomas Munning, James Carr, Mindy Mathisen, Betsy Mathisen, Patrick Carr, Brian Carr and the late Kevin Carr. He was the brother of Philip Munning, the late Mary Hankins and is also survived by 20 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
