X-Country Ends Dual Meet Season, Eyes Championships

Ryan Ramsthaler was the top finisher for the Verona High School cross country squads in the dual meet at Branch Brook on September 30. Ramsthaler finished seventh overall in a field of 79 boys cross country team rummers with a time of 18:30. The Verona boys team defeated Essex County Vocational 18-41 but lost to Nutley 24-35. The girls fell to both to Newark Academy, 26-31, and Nutley, 19-38, with Maggie Ashley coming in 11th in a field of 71 runners at 22:58.

The September 30 race completes VHS’ dual meet season. On Saturday, October 4, Verona boys and girls will run at the Brett Taylor Invitational Meet in Darlington Park in Mahwah. The SEC Conference Championships will be contested on Tuesday, October 7, at Branch Brook Park. The boys compete in the Liberty Division, while the girls compete in the American Division.
