To buy into Verona, you generally don’t have to spend a million dollars. We’re not Manhattan, after all, where a postage-stamp sized apartment with a partially obstructed view can fetch more than six figures.

Prior to this weekend, there were only three listings in Verona for more than $1 million, and all three were condos on the eastern ridge that defines our little town: Two penthouses at Claridge I and one townhouse in the Kips Ridge complex.

Now, you can add a single-family home to the mix. Stanton Company, a Montclair-based real estate broker, has listed 14 Summit Road for $1.2 million. The listing is so new that there aren’t any photos of it posted yet, but the home sits on a large pie-shaped lot on a cul-de-sac in the Afterglow section. If you were allowed to drive the golf carts home from the Montclair Country Club, you’d be home in about five minutes.

But as we said in the beginning, to buy into Verona, you generally don’t have to spend a million dollars. The five other new Verona listings this weekend are priced below that. So are all six of this weekend’s open houses and the two properties with lower asking prices.
