For the past few months, the Laning Avenue second-grade Brownies of Girl Scout Troop 20341 have been working on a charity project involving making dresses from pillow cases and ribbon. The project and donations were inspired by Dress A Girl Around The World and the goal is to make dresses for girls who are less fortunate. Rosa Nunez, the leader of the troop says that, “what begins as a pillowcase, ends as a very pretty dress with an amazing effect: giving little girls around the world hope, faith and dignity!”

The troop began their journey in the early fall, just before Hurricane Sandy hit Verona.  Through perseverence, dedication, and patience, they have recently completed their dresses and will be sending a note with each one.

The final shipment will not be leaving Verona until April 1. If you have some old pillowcases or grosgrain ribbon and would like to donate them for this project, please feel free to drop them off at 166 Linden Avenue. Nunez and her troop would love to have additional dresses to donate.
