Sal and Sylvia Vassallo are looking for your help in helping the parish of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Highlands, a town by Sandy Hook that was hit hard by Hurricane Sandy.

The church is asking for volunteers and for the following items:

  • Shelf milk, coffee, tea, sugar packets,
  • Socks and underwear for men, women and children of all ages.
  • Long johns for the men working outdoors.

If you would like to donate any of these items, you can put them in the collection box by the Vasallo’s front door at  2 Park Avenue. This is in the stretch of Park between Bloomfield and Claremont avenues, just up the hill from the Corner Store Deli (the old Verona Variety). If you have questions, you can call Sylvia on her cell at 973-477-7967.

The Vasallos will head down to Highlands with the donations this Saturday, November  24 by 10 a.m. “I will tell them that the donated items are from our friends in Verona,” writes Sylvia. “Thank You!”
