Verona High’s boys soccer team, playing its first home game of the 2012 season, dropped a 4-3 decision to Caldwell before a large crowd of fans from both high schools Monday evening at Centennial Field.

Caldwell jumped out to a 1-0 lead just two minutes into the game, and the Hillbillies (1-1) had to fight an uphill battle the rest of the evening. Verona did manage to tie the contest, 3-3, at the half on goals by junior Matt Braschi (a penalty kick), junior Troy Carrington and senior co-captain Aaron Seubert.

Caldwell (1-2) scored the lone goal of the second half to secure the victory. Verona senior goalie Mike King made 11 saves.
