Steven A. Forte

Steven A. Forte, Verona’s new superintendent of schools should be able to start in town one month earlier than expected. The Verona Board of Education said today that the Hasbrouck Heights school district, Forte’s current employer, has made it possible for him to start December 1, instead of after the New Year’s break. The BOE must get the contract change approved by Essex County and the Board itself needs to amend its own hiring resolution with the new date at its November 29 meeting.

Since Forte was announced as a finalist for the position last month he has attended all BOE planning and administrative sessions and Board meetings. He also came to town on October 14 for a meet-and-greet with the community. You can listen to many of his remarks on the MyVeronaNJ.com page on YouTube; his comments on maintaining discipline in the schools are below.
