Unfortunately, what the bloggers said last night is true. The NY Jets have waived Verona native Dan DePalma. The wide receiver was signed as an undrafted free agent in July, and had performed well in preseason games. DePalma wasn’t alone:  The team waived 26 players to get down to the league-mandated 53 players by the NFL’s 6 p.m. deadline Saturday night.

But this might not be the end of the road for DePalma, who had had interest from seven pro teams before he went with the Jets. The Jets will name players to their practice squad on Sunday afternoon. In an interview with Fred Goode on Thursday night after the Jets-Eagles game, DePalma spoke highly of the tough workout delivered in a Jets practice. If you haven’t already done so, watch the video of DePalma in that game.
