Michael Perry strips a Bernards midfielder of the ball

The Verona High School boys lacrosse team was 4-0 going into its match against Bernards on Monday afternoon. It had trounced Gov. Livingston of Berkeley Heights 6-3 in miserable weather on Friday, and put up an equally lopsided victory over Nutley (12-8) on Thursday.

But Bernards High School was also 4-0 going into Monday’s match, and at the end of game–played in Bernardsville–somebody’s record was no longer going to be unblemished.

That somebody was Verona, which came up on the short end of a 9-4 game after goals by Colin Farawell, Greg Schiffenhaus,  Tom McManus and Cooper Neale. The guys face Morris Knolls at Centennial Field on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.

Fred Goode was at the game and got these shots.
