A dragon dance from students at Forest

Congratulations and Prosperity for Chinese New Year! That’s what Mandarin students from Forest Avenue Elementary School, H.B. Whitehorne Middle School and Verona High School wished the audience at a celebration at VHS over the weekend. The students sang and danced alongside students from Northern Huaxia Chinese School, which teaches language and Chinese culture classes at VHS on Saturdays.

The Year of the Rabbit began today. This is the Chinese zodiac year for people born in 1927, 1939, 1951, 1963, 1975, 1987, 1999 and 2011. If one of those is your birth year, then you can take pride in  being articulate, ambitious, affectionate, cooperative and friendly. Famous Rabbits include Michelangelo, Albert Einstein and scientist Marie Curie.
