Co-captain Alekos Polis had one of the two scores on the evening.

The Verona-Glen Ridge Hockey team took on West Orange last night and the game ended just like the majority of VGR games so far this season, with a win for two-school team, 2-0.

The two goals came from the Glen Ridge side of the team, thanks to co-captains Alekos Polis and Nick Martell. Polis got on the board first with a goal in the second period. Martell was there for the assist, as was Dylan DeCandia, a Verona High School freshman. Polis returned the favor in the third period with an assist on a Martell score. With only 12 shots on goal, West Orange didn’t put up much of an offense, but its goalie, Teddy Steinert, did one heck of a job defending against VGR’s shots on goal with 57 saves.

Fred Goode captured some of the action in photos.
