Maybe you can’t get into Manhattan right now to take the kids to an Off-Broadway show. Maybe you don’t have to.
Cafe Eclectic in Montclair is hosting a special, free family night this Wednesday, December 8 featuring the cast of ImaginOcean. This is the kids’ puppet show that counts Verona’s own James Wojtal Jr. among its puppeteers.
John Tartaglia, the show’s creator, will be reading a holiday story, and then there’ll be a holiday song sing-a-along with the show’s fish stars Dorsel, Bubbles and Tank (Wojtal’s puppet). The cast will also do a meet-and-greet with the audience after the performance.
ImaginOcean is geared for kids of all ages. Its story revolves around Tank, Bubbles and Dorsel, best friends who set out on a journey when they find a treasure map. As they swim off in search of clues, they sing, dance and make new friends, and discover that the greatest treasure of all is friendship.
The event will start around 7:30 p.m., Wojtal tells us, and there will be free cookies and hot cocoa for the kids. Cafe Eclectic is located at 444 Bloomfield Avenue in Montclair, a few doors up from the Wellmont Theater. Park on the street or in the lot behind the Wellmont. Seating is limited.
