Verona High School seniors Jody Freinkel and Danielle King were invited by Rutgers University‘s French Department and the World Language Institute to participate in the second edition of “French at Rutgers” on October 16.
The afternoon of French-related activities brought 40 high-school French teachers and 80 advanced students to the Jane Voorhees Zimmerli Art Museum and the campus’ Language Institute. Rutgers University undergraduates from the French Language and Culture Living-Learning Communities served as hosts to escort the groups of high school teachers and students from one session throughout the afternoon, to chat with them, and enjoy with them the various session offerings by French faculty, graduate students, and Zimmerli Art Museum staff.
Freinkel and King were able visit the museum’s French Collections, participate in a roundtable discussion with French alums on opportunities for advanced study and careers in French, and also listen in on a lecture on French literature and culture by Rutgers University French Department faculty.
