Essex County Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo, Jr. doled out $7.1 million in federal funds to 14 towns and 48 non-profits in the county on Thursday, and one of the largest awards went to a project in Verona. The township will be getting a Community Development Block Grant of $160,050 to pay for the reconstruction of Brookdale Avenue. Verona Town Council member Frank Sapienza said the work will likely begin in the spring of 2011.
