Back-to-back games this weekend didn’t faze the Verona-Glen Ridge hockey team. Coming off a hard-fought 6-5 victory against Pequannock on Saturday, the Verona team put away West Orange on Sunday 5-1, where Verona head coach Stephen Ruggiero played high school hockey. West Orange’s only goal came on a deflected shot as the clock expired in the third period. Alekos Polis had three goals and two assists in the Pequannock match; in Sunday’s matchup, goals were scored by Spencer Cohen, Alekos Polis, Eric Thiele, Nikos Polis and Bob Maguire. Tonight, the team can rest.
