Three more “green” programs for kids at the Essex County Environmental Center.
The 4-H Club is hosting an “Environmental Kids Club” for children in grades 2 through 5. The club says this is a monthly event, but it has only sent out the date for January, which is this Thursday, January 14 at 4 p.m. in the Center’s Garibaldi Hall. That’s the older building at the back of the big parking lot. You must register before heading over by calling the 4-H at (973) 228-3785.
The Center also is holding a “Rock-N-Roll Geology Club” for kids ages 7 to 12 on Tuesday, January 19 at 4 p.m. It promises hands-on activities that will help kids to understand what’s in local soil, and to identify rocks and minerals. Again, you’ve got to register in advance, and space is limited. The class costs $5 per child per session, and the center says there may be some additional material fees along the way. For more information, call the Center at (973) 228-8776.
Finally, on Tuesday, January 26, the Center will hold its “Green Kids Environmental Club”, which is targeted at 7 to 14 year olds. This is a wide-ranging environmental science program that includes hands-on activities and service projects! Space is limited, and advance registration and payment is required. The cost is $5 per child per session, plus material fees. Call the Center at (973) 228-8776 to register.
