Driver Caution Urged At HBW

Yvette McNeal, the principal of H.B. Whitehorne Middle School, has sent out a note reminding parents of some of the rules of the road around HBW.

She is asking parents to not stop or park in a crosswalk when they are picking up and dropping off children. McNeal also would like parents using the municipal lot behind Terry’s Drugs to back into their parking spot, so that they can pull out with a clear view of all the children crossing through the busy lot.

One additional request not mentioned by the principal: Please don’t idle your engine at pickup. HBW, and all Verona schools, are idle-free zones. New Jersey law requires gas and diesel engines to be turned off after 3 minutes.
