Pam Priscoe will seek a third term on the Verona Board of Education and Christopher Wacha will seek a second when Verona voters go to the polls this November 5. But the deadline to be a candidate in this year’s election is July 29, so they could face challengers.
Priscoe won a second term in 2021 with 3,171 votes and now serves as the BOE’s president. Wacha got 2,598 votes in that election, which like this year was for two seats on the Board.
Nominating petitions for all BOE candidates are due to the Essex County Clerk on Monday, July 29. The New Jersey Schools Boards Association (NJSBA) has a comprehensive guide on its website that covers filing instructions, campaign finance information and disclosure requirements. The NJSBA also has information on the role of a school board member and school governance. You can find the guide here.
The Verona BOE also has a guide to Board roles and responsibilities.
