In recognition of the Hilltop Conservancy’s 20th anniversary, it is hosting a butterfly walk in the Hilltop Reservation from 9:30 a.m. to noon on Friday, June 28.
The walk is being led by Jim Springer, vice president of the North American Butterfly Association (NABA). A highlight of the walk will be walking through the 15-acre grassland, which is the highest point in the reservation and designated by Monarch Watch as a Monarch Way Station.
Those interested in attending should arrive at 9:15 a.m. and park in the lot by the North Caldwell Dog Park off Courter Lane, which is also the western entrance to the Reservation.
Attendees are advised to wear long pants, walking shoes (not sneakers), and to bring tick and bug repellent, sun screen, water, cameras and binoculars.
Attendees should RSVP in advance to Chris Lawrence, conservancy secretary at [email protected]. In the event of inclement weather Chris will notify attendees that the event has been cancelled. The rain date is July 14.
