H.B. Whitehorne Middle School has chosen its students of the month for June. HBW began the student of the month program in March to recognize students who demonstrate positive character.
One winner was chosen from each grade for June. They are:
- Grade 5: Adrian Lucente
- Grade 6: Phoebe White
- Grade 7: Natalie Theobald
- Grade 8: Hannah Richards
HBW has established a Student of the Month Committee, comprised of a cross-section of its staff and chaired by teacher Ryan Brown, that solicits nominations for each month from all staff members and meets to discuss each nomination.
“While achievement in academics, athletics, and the arts are important, we believe character is of the utmost importance,” Principal David Galbierczyk wrote in an announcement to parents about the program earlier this year. “In addition to the HBW pillars of respect, open-mindedness and integrity, students who demonstrate empathy, kindness, perseverance, humility, leadership, and a strong work ethic will be considered for the honor.”
