To the Editor:
I am writing this letter to the residents of Verona, particularly parents. My son Christian is a candidate for Councilman in the May 9th election. I am a resident of Verona and fortunate to live in a caring community.
My life experiences and faith have taught me to judge people not by their past but by their present and future potential. My son Christian is actively involved in our community as a coach, supporter of community events and as a father. He loves Verona and wants to serve as a Councilman to do more to help our community.
I am highly offended that a campaign for local office has devolved to the level of character assassination. This is not Verona and does not represent the community I know and love.
Let’s give everyone who seeks public office the opportunity to do their best to serve our community. I know Christian and I know he will be an effective Councilman who will represent all the residents of Verona with an open and sincere heart.
My hope as a mother and a proud resident of Verona is that we give people a chance to do their best to serve our community. As Pope Francis said regarding another important issue in our society, “WHO AM I TO JUDGE”.
