Mrs. Angelica T. (nee Iacovone) McEvoy, 86, passed peacefully on April 27, 2023 in Glen Ridge, NJ.

Visiting will be held at the Prout Funeral Home (370 Bloomfield Avenue, Verona) from 2 to 5 pm on Sunday, April 30. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Lake Church in Verona at 10 am on Monday, May 1. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover.

Born and raised in Woodside, Queens, Angelica graduated from Mary Louis Academy in New York City. After meeting and marrying James, a Brooklyn native, they moved to Verona in 1959, where they raised their family. Angelica worked as a bookkeeper for Our Lady of the Lake Church and as a secretary for Nabisco Brands in East Hanover.

She was a very active member of the Our Lady of the Lake parish community, Cursillo, the Christian Family Movement and the Verona Senior Citizens group.

Angelica truly enjoyed being surrounded by family and friends, especially in her home where dinners that included her lasagna also included hunting for extra chairs and plates for anyone who dropped in. She also enjoyed going to the beach, any beach, so that she could add to her seashell collection. When she wasn’t reading or clipping coupons, which would invariably expire before use, she could be found watching a Mets game or Food Network.

She was predeceased by her husband, James A. McEvoy, Sr., her daughter, Roseann McEvoy, daughter-in-law, Michele Turso McEvoy, son-in-law, Victor Lopez, granddaughter, Nicole, brothers, Joseph Iacovone, Rev. Angelo Iacovone, CP, Saverio Iacovone, Rocco Iacovone and Frederick Iacovone and parents, Vito and Rose (nee DeStefano) Iacovone.

Mrs. McEvoy is survived by her loving children, James A. McEvoy, Jr. (Laura), Christine Lopez, Michael McEvoy (Sandy Faren), Jack McEvoy (Jessica Pearson), daughter-in-law, Colleen McBride, granddaughters, Stephanie, Emily and Megan and Kristy Faren, Lauren Faren (Jason Kamerer & daughter Makenna).

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory to the Verona Rescue Squad (12 Church Street, Verona, NJ 07044) or Our Lady of the Lake Endowment Trust (26 Lakeside Ave, Verona, NJ 07044) would be greatly appreciated.
