The recently launched Verona Municipal Republican Committee (VMRC) is offering two $500 scholarships to students who will graduate from Verona High School with the class of 2023. Applicants need not be headed to college or a trade school to apply, but they will need to write an essay. The application deadline is Tuesday, April 18. The VMRC says it does not consider academic achievement or financial need for these scholarships.
The VMRC says its scholarships were inspired by a scholarship granted by the Military Officers Association of America, so it is asking applicants to write “an uplifting and inspiring essay describing their appreciation for our U.S. Military Veterans.” The two winning essays will be featured on the VMRC website.
To apply, students will need to turn in their essays to Ms. Rivera in the VHS guidance department by the deadline.
