Family Night is coming up next week on Thursday, March 9. If you’re new to Verona, this is the night that the Verona Municipal Alliance Committee (VMAC) created back in 2003 with town government and the Board of Education to be an evening free of homework, after-school activities and town meetings so that families can spend some quality downtime together. “Dinner makes a difference,” is a key message for VMAC.
VMAC has once again persuaded local restaurants to offer discounts to Verona families who want to dine in or take out. All of the deals have been posted to VMAC’s website.
The Verona non-profit, which educates the community about the misuse and abuse of alcohol, tobacco, and other substances, also runs a Family Night poster contest among students at H.B. Whitehorne Middle School. This year’s winners are Maura Field (below) and Gwyneth Saltarelli (above). The posters are displayed in all schools, the Verona Library, Town Hall, Community Center and all participating Family Night restaurants.
