Mr. Archibald W. Dillon, 67, passed away on February 17, 2023 at his home in West Orange.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at the Prout Funeral Home, 370 Bloomfield Avenue, Verona on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. with services beginning at 7 p.m. Interment will be Friday at 11 a.m. in the Arlington Cemetery in Kearny.

Archie was born in Kearny and spent his first 10 years growing up in Old Bridge before he moved with his family to Verona. He stayed in Verona until a recent move brought him to West Orange. He graduated from Verona High School with the Class of 1973.

He completed training at the Essex County Police Academy and worked for the Essex County Department of Corrections in Newark for 30 years, attaining the rank of captain.

Archie was a proud member of Elks Lodge #1855 in Livingston.

He was predeceased by his parents, Archibald T. and Patricia (nee McGarr) Dillon and his brother, Thomas P. Dillon.

Archie is survived by his siblings, Theresa “Terry” D. Graham (Chas) and Donna A. Dillon; his nieces and nephews, Jameson Graham (Nicole), Janine Josephsen (Paul), Nicole Dillon (who was like a daughter), Kelly Dillon, Shannon Dillon and Thomas Dillon (Kelly); and great-nieces and great-nephews, Calvin and Chloe Graham and Dillon, Grace, Nora and Pierce Josephsen. He is also survived by the love of his life, Sandra Barba.
