Verona kids play a lot of sports, and it can be costly to buy all the equipment new. On Saturday, March 18, you can pick up gear for a song at the Verona Sports Equipment Swap. And if you’ve got old equipment that your family no longer needs, you can donate it to be sold.
Here’s how the swap will work. If you have new or gently used sports equipment or athletic uniforms, you can drop them off at the Verona Community Center (VCC) on Friday, March 17 from noon to 8 p.m.
The swap will be held at the VCC the next day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.. and prices will range from $1 to $10. All proceeds benefit Friends of Verona Parks, which is a new nonprofit being set up to secure grants and other funding for all of Verona’s green spaces, except Verona Park. (That park actually belongs to Essex County, although the Verona Park Conservancy does aid in its maintenance.)
