Verona’s first responders were quick to the scene early Sunday morning after a Bloomfield Avenue crash left a driver trapped in the wreckage.
According to the Verona Rescue Squad, the accident occurred at about 3:45 a.m. near Quality Car Care. Ricky Tempesta, the squad’s captain responded directly to the scene and established command. He was followed by Verona Fire Department Truck Company 2 and Verona Fire Department Engine Company 1, which worked with the Cedar Grove Fire Department to get the driver out. The driver was the only occupant of the vehicle.
At the request of the paramedics at the scene, the driver was transferred to a helicopter and flown to Hackensack University Medical Center. No word on his or her condition.
