Police Welcome 3 New Officers

Shane Daly, Brendan Heller and Gregory Matesic were sworn in as Verona Police officers at Monday night’s Town Council meeting to replace two officers who retired and one who moved to a police force outside Verona.

Daly is a 25-year-old Cedar Grove resident and Marine Corps veteran. He served as the commanding officer of his academy class and is working towards his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from American Military University.

Heller, 26, is a resident of Lyndhurst. He earned an associate’s degree in criminal justice at Bergen County Community College. Heller, who previously worked in the private sector in sales, completed the Alternate Route program at the Essex County Police Academy, graduating on November 9.

Matesic also completed the Alternate Route program at the Essex County Police Academy and graduated on November 9. He is 28 and a resident of Paramus. He did his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice at Montclair State University, where he also played hockey. He also previously worked in sales.
